Preparing Your Home For Sale Checklist

PREPARATIONS OUTDOORS:

General Exterior:
  • * Repair any roof leaks & replace any damaged shingles
  • * Clean out & repair gutters
  • * Paint house & garage if the paint looks dull
  • * Power wash vinyl siding, decks, and wood fences
  • * Mend & paint fences and railings
  • * Remove all toys, clutter & stored vehicles from sight
  • * Clean all windows & replace any cracked windows
  • * Clean all window screens & replace any damaged screen
  • * Remove stains from driveway, repair cracks and reseal if needed
  • * Repair cracks in steps, walks and patios
  • * Keep lawn & landscaping neat, adding colorful flowers & fresh mulch to front of home

    Front Entry:

  • * Paint front door and polish door handles
  • * Repair or replace screen door if needed
  • * Make certain that front lock works smoothly
  • * Paint or replace mailbox & address plate, if needed
  • * Repair or replace doorbell, if needed
  • * Keep porch light clean and in working order
  • * Add a new welcome mat, chairs & flower pots to porch

    Garage:

  • * Remove all possible items to storage
  • * Thoroughly clean garage
  • * Organize any remaining items, including workbench
  • * Repair cracks & clean stains on cement
  • * Replace light bulbs & fluorescent lights, if needed
